Hey Elina,
I am personally not really a ‘backpacker’ so that’s why I would recommend the north. I think a lot of women are a bit apprehensive to venture out on their own because they think typical backpacking is the only way to do it. Solo travel doesn’t equal backpacking. There are so many other ways which is why the notion of whether a country is considered a backpacking country doesn’t really factor much for me!

Hi Elina! Thanks for your comment and advice on visiting the Nordics! I haven’t been myself yet but Iceland is a hot spot destination this year! Would love to see it with my own eyes.

I think it’s essential to understand the responsibility that travellers have for the world that gives them so much.

I’d also like to comment on the destinations thingy. While I don’t live in a Scandinavian country (Finland instead), my understanding is that there’s not much backpacker culture in the Nordic countries, maybe excepting Iceland and Denmark Besides, all those countries are really expensive. I would definitely recommend visiting the Nordics because there are some spectacular places up here, but if you were a first time backpacker it might be good to choose a place with a strong backpacking culture, like central Europe or Australia.
